Social distancing is canceling everyone’s plans from simple things like brunch with friends to special occasions like weddings and baby showers. The good news is, with the use of the internet and social media, social distancing doesn’t have to ruin your baby shower. The show can go on! So don’t cancel your plans just yet. I am going to share the reasons why you should still create a baby registry and how you can throw a virtual baby shower.
Creating a Baby Registry Provides You with Discounts
Most stores will offer a completion discount of about 15%. The discount is available closer to your due date. For brick and mortar stores like Walmart, Target, and BuyBuy Baby, the discount can be used both online and in stores. Amazon also offers a discount, but it is of course, online only.

You Get FREE Baby Stuff
When you create a baby registry stores will give you, either by picking up in the store or shipping it to you, a box of free baby items. Some stores will charge a minimal fee while other baby boxes are completely free. I liked the Target and Walmart boxes because they came with samples of baby products like detergent, diapers, wipes, etc. They also had coupons I could use on future purchases.
Friends and Family Can Shop Online & Send Gifts
Unless it is for essential items, in the wake of social distancing, no one is really going to stores. If they are, they’re doing curbside pickup. This is where online shopping comes in handy, especially for baby registry items. The items can be shipped directly to you. Just make sure you sanitize the shipping boxes and items once they arrive. Also, wash your hands after touching them to bring them inside.
