For some time now, I’ve slowly transitioned into becoming healthier. From eating more clean, and switching out products that I use on my body with harmful chemicals to products that are more natural. I guess you can say I’ve somewhat hopped on the “clean beauty” bandwagon by switching my deodorant. I’ve been using CRYSTAL deodorant for a little over two years, and haven’t looked back.

There have been numerous studies that show ingredients, such as aluminum chlorohydrate, zirconium, and chloride can lead to an increased risk for breast cancer as well as infertility. These harmful chemicals are usually found in commercial deodorants/antiperspirants. This is the reason why I use a natural deodorant like CRYSTAL.
What is Crystal Deodorant?
Crystal deodorants are derived from salts that have natural antibacterial properties like potassium alum or ammonium alum. The salts slow down bacteria growth under the armpit, which contributes to underarm odor.
The deodorant is usually found in a stone form that can be moistened and then applied on your clean armpit. Your armpit being clean is the key. However, the CRYSTAL brand has made the natural deodorant in other formulas: invisible solid, spray, or roll-on.
How do the Various CRYSTAL Deodorants Measure Up?
I’ve tried three (3) of the four (4) different formulas of CRYSTAL Deodorants available, and my favorite would have to be the invisible solid.
CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant Stick
The Mineral Deodorant stick was my first introduction into the CRYSTAL brand. I bought it because it was most similar to the piece of alum I had purchased while in Morocco, which was what I was familiar with most.
With the original CRYSTAL, you spend less money on deodorant. The CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant Stick lasts, what seems like forever! I like it because it has only one ingredient. Yes, ONE! It is also convenient for travel. You don’t have to worry about it melting, etc. The only annoyance is wetting it and ensuring you’re getting enough protection for the day.

CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant Roll-on
I purchased the Mineral Deodorant Roll-on one day during a trip to the grocery store, and it was on sale. I liked it because I didn’t have to fuss with it like the stick. Meaning I didn’t have to wet it, and then apply it. Whatever I needed was already liquified, and ready for me to use, making the application simple. The only annoying thing about it is you have to wait for it to dry.

CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant Invisible Solid
The Mineral Deodorant Invisible Solid is by far my favorite from the CRYSTAL Deodorant brand. I started using the Lavender and White Tea, which has a light aromatherapy scent. It goes on easily and doesn’t leave any residue, which means I don’t have to worry about deodorant marks on my clothes. We know how annoying those can be, right? It also isn’t sticky nor oily.
The Mineral Deodorant Invisible Solid promises up to 24 hours of protection. I can say that throughout the hottest and most humid summer days, I’ve felt fresh and confident in my personal scent.
It also comes in a Mineral Enriched formula that offers the same protection and is available in Freshly Minted (another favorite of mine) and Mountain Fresh, which my husband prefers.
CRYSTAL Deodorant is Not an Antiperspirant
If you tend to sweat a lot, switching to CRYSTAL may not be for you since it isn’t an antiperspirant. Although I’ve found that I have more perspiration in my armpits when using the stick and roll-on, it didn’t keep me from sweating, but I didn’t experience an odor.
Bottom Line
For me, CRYSTAL Deodorant has been an excellent natural alternative to traditional deodorants. While using CRYSTAL I haven’t experienced any adverse reactions, such as skin rashes, itchiness or chemical burns, which I’ve experienced with other natural deodorant brands. Needless to say, I am sticking with my CRYSTAL Deodorant.
