My husband and I had a really great time in New Orleans. In fact, we were just discussing having a return visit with my best friend and her husband. Guess where we want to stay again? The JW Marriott New Orleans.

The JW Marriott New Orleans is a 30-story luxury hotel located on Canal Street in the heart of the French Quarter. The reason I chose this hotel for our couples getaway was due to its proximity to Bourbon Street, restaurants and other activities that I had planned for the trip. Plus, getting away without our daughter called for spending five nights in luxury.

We called room 2815 home for the duration of our 5-night stay. It’s a newly refreshed guestroom located on the 28th floor, quiet and away from the elevator. It offered us views of Canal Street. As soon as you walk into the room, you’ll notice the comfy King-sized bed facing the large flat screen television, huge window, and desk.

The closet is tucked away to the left, right at the entry, and to the left is the bathroom. The bathroom is clean and modern with a walk-in shower made for two; however, the beautiful marble vanity, unfortunately, wasn’t. But, that only meant we couldn’t do things like brush our teeth together. On a couples vacation, we look forward to showering together more than anything, so not having a double sink wasn’t a dealbreaker.

JW Marriott New Orleans Staff

I tend to make judgments on hotels based on these three things: cleanliness, location, style, and service from staff. The staff at JW Marriott New Orleans were great! From the doormen who helped us with our bags and held the door, to the front desk staff who checked us in. Our cleaning ladies were great as well. Since the staff are local, they were a great resource for finding out things to do and where to find the best New Orleans food like Po’boy sandwiches and chargrilled oysters. This was especially helpful because we came to New Orleans to eat!

Location, Location, Location

The JW Marriott New Orleans is in the perfect location on the historic Canal Street. Canal Street, if you didn’t know is the boundary of the French Quarter. It divides the 18th Century city and current business district or American sector.

For us, the perk of this hotel’s location was that it was in the ideal place for us to easily get around. We could walk to the famed Bourbon Street if we were looking for drinks and entertainment. Restaurants were seriously on every corner. Like Ruby Slipper Cafe and Compere Lapin, and the Palace Cafe. Not to mention, the hotel also has a Fogo de Chao right downstairs.  From the hotel, my husband and I walked to Harrah’s Casino and to the Riverwalk for our dinner cruise on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen. Getting to areas outside of the quarter was easy, especially since the trolley cars and a Big Bus Tour stop was right outside.

The Palace Cafe, right across the street from the hotel (we could see it from our room) was great for people watching.

Other JW Marriott Amenities

The JW Marriott New Orleans has a pretty decent gym with weight machines, ellipticals, treadmills, etc. where my husband and I got in some quality time while working out. I mean, we had to work off the food we ate so that we could eat some more!

Direct entry from the gym is an outdoor pool that due to the weather we couldn’t take advantage of. But that is just another reason for us to return visit and stay at the JW.

From the elliptical I was using, I could view the pool and the skyline.

Stay at JW Marriott New Orleans

Being in the perfect location on historic Canal Street and just a few minutes’ walk from the famed Bourbon Street and other attractions, the JW Marriott New Orleans is great for couples and families looking to explore the French Quarter. The friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, onsite restaurant and bar are all inviting. My husband and I did not want to leave. When planning a visit to New Orleans, consider staying at the JW. You won’t regret it.
