Summer means a lot of our family time is spent outdoors. After spending the better part of the fall and winter cooped up indoors, heading outside for summer fun is just what the doctor ordered. But, sometimes outdoor fun can be a pain, especially if you’re in areas populated with pesky mosquitoes, which means annoying, itchy bites. And let’s not forget the risks of mosquito-borne viruses like Zika, West Nile, Dengue and others that we have to avoid. This is why our family has been using Guardian DEET-Free Insect Repellant to keep us mosquito bite-free all summer long.
Guardian DEET-free Insect Repellant is a plant-based, non-toxic mosquito and tick repellant serving as an alternative to chemical- heavy insect repellants. Guardian claims that their products work better than DEET repellants. Having used both types, but switched to plant-based repellants once we began trying to conceive, and then having our daughter, plant-based repellants have been a staple during summer outings or vacations to tropical climates where mosquitoes run rampant. However, not all plant-based insect repellants are made equal. There are some that do not offer as much protection as they claim.
Guardian DEET-free insect repellant is offered in two (2) formulas: Guardian Backyard and Guardian Wilderness. This summer, we’ve used both formulas. I’ve sent mini me to daycare with a bottle of the Guardian Backyard, which offers up to 4-hours of protection, making it perfect for her daytime school outings. For when our family has our little backyard shindigs or just random relaxing and fun moments in our backyard, there is always a bottle of the Guardian Wilderness formula that offers up to 8-hours of protection against insect bites. I can tell you that the mosquitoes in our backyard and neighborhood are vicious, but when using the Guardian DEET-free insect repellant we did not get a single bite. That’s impressive!
Parents like myself that wish to use more natural products for their families will love this non-toxic repellant. The formula of the Guardian DEET-free insect repellant isn’t sticky nor greasy. It has a nice vanilla-like fragrance as opposed to a strong chemical scent that most DEET-containing repellants have. Guardian’s plant-based formula is safe for use around your outdoor equipment. DEET, on the other hand, damages and corrodes plastics, nylon gear, and some clothing.
This summer, don’t let bugs keep you and your family from enjoying the warm weather and having fun outdoors. To prevent your next family picnic, hike, vacation or backyard barbecue from being ruined by pesky mosquitoes or ticks, be sure to pack Guardian DEET-free Insect Repellant. Your family will thank you for keeping them safe and bite-free.
Guardian DEET-free Wilderness (8-hour protection) and Guardian Backyard (4-hour protection) are available for purchase on Amazon.com for $7.99 and $6.99 respectively. More information can be found on http://www.guardianrepellent.com
