For most couples, trying to conceive (TTC) is a fun and exciting time; however, for those of us on the other end of the spectrum, like myself, who need a little extra help, TTC is just the opposite. I can describe these last, almost three years of us trying to conceive baby #2 as a stressful, and emotional rollercoaster. After getting pregnant once, most couples assume conception will go similarly the second time around. But that’s not always the case.
If you’re new to the blog, you’re probably wondering why in the heck am I writing about trying to conceive issues when I’ve already had a successful pregnancy that resulted in my being a mom of a now four-year-old girl.
As I mentioned previously, I’m one of the not so lucky people who suffer from unexplained secondary infertility.
Resolve defines secondary infertility as the inability to become pregnant, or to carry a pregnancy to term, following the birth of one or more biological children. The birth of the first child does not involve any assisted reproductive technologies or fertility medications.
We assumed that after my cycle returned, and normalized, I‘d get pregnant easily, expanding our family of three to a family of four. Don’t get me wrong; I did get pregnant, but that pregnancy unfortunately
ended in a miscarriage. Ever since then, we have not been able to get pregnant. To date, we’ve done at least six (6) IUIs some medically assisted, and some not. Either way, the results have been the same – a negative pregnancy test. But, that doesn’t mean we haven’t learned anything throughout this journey that I can share with someone struggling through the same thing.
Throughout this journey we’ve learned there are many factors that can interfere with a couple getting pregnant, which can include:
- Hormone levels
- Egg quality
- Timing of conception
- pH level of the vagina
- Quality of cervical mucus (CM)
The pH of the vagina along with the quality of the cervical mucus is essential when trying to conceive naturally. Why? Sperm need a friendly environment to survive, and swim its way to fertilize the egg. Thankfully, there’s a lubricant specially formulated for that purpose:
Astroglide TTC™ Trying to Conceive.
Astroglide TTC™ supports fertility with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality and a consistency similar to your body’s cervical mucus. Each package contains 8 pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina, supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort.
How it works:
Each package contains 8 pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina, supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort.
While traditional lubricants may affect these conditions and inhibit sperm motility, studies have shown that Astroglide TTC is compatible with sperm, oocytes and embryos and allows sperm to move freely.
Astroglide TTC contains galactose, which is found naturally in semen, as well as fructose, the main source of energy for sperm.
At $12.99 for 8 applications, one thing’s for sure,
Astroglide TTC is affordable compared to other TTC lubricants we’ve tried. Check out where you can purchase a package of Astroglide TTC Trying to Conceive to help you on your TTC journey here:
