DOLITTLE movie is a must-see fun family movie starring Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. John Dolittle. If you’re familiar with the storyline of Dr. Dolittle, you already know that he’s an amazing veterinarian with a unique gift of being able to speak with animals.

In the latest rendition of the movie, Dolittle, aside from the company of his favorite animals becomes a recluse after losing his wife who shared the same passion for animals. Since his wife’s death, he spent his time wallowing in grief behind the walls of Dolittle Manor. However, his days of sulking eventually come to an end when the young queen (Jessie Buckley, Wild Rose) falls gravely ill, thus needing the help of Dolittle and his animal friends. This prompts what turns out to be an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure. The doctor is joined on his quest by a young, self-appointed apprentice (Dunkirk’s Harry Collett) and a boisterous group of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla, an enthusiastic but bird-brained duck (Oscar winner Octavia Spencer), a bickering duo of a cynical ostrich (The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani), an upbeat polar bear (John Cena, Bumblebee) and a headstrong parrot (Oscar winner Emma Thompson), who serves as Dolittle’s most trusted advisor and confidante.

During this adventure, Dolittle and even some of his animal friends regain their wit and courage as they cross paths with old enemies.  In fact, one of my favorite things about the movie are the affirmations Dolittle instills in Chee-Chee the gorilla (Rami Malek).

Also starring in the DOLITTLE movie are stars Antonio Banderas who plays his widow’s father, Michael Sheen (The Queen), Oscar winner Jim Broadbent and Carmen Laniado (FX’s A Christmas Carol) and voice performances from Tom Holland, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, Frances de la Tour, Jason Mantzoukas and Craig Robinson. Craig Robinson was the voice of a hilarious squirrel. I loved his character.
