Thursday, April 26th was “Take Your Child to Work Day”, instead of bringing my daughter to my office job, we spent the day along with her two cousins and my sister at the TTPM 2018 Spring Showcase. She enjoys coming with me to my full-time job, but who can pass on playing with and testing new toys for a day?
During the event, we were allowed to play with and experience the latest toys and baby gear from leading and new brands including Play Monster Fun, Jazwares, Spin Master, Nickelodeon, Kid Trax Toys, Mattel, Hasbro, Moose Toys, and more.
Top Picks for Outdoor Play
Finally, with summer just a few weeks away, warmer weather is on the horizon for us New Yorkers. This means more time spent outdoors. During the TTPM 2018 Spring Showcase, we had the opportunity to try out some cool toys and gadgets to make spending time outdoors more fun and enjoyable. Our favorites included:
Ride-on Toys were popular with all three of our kids, even my toddler niece.
KidTrax had the cutest ride-on vehicles, especially if your kids are into superheroes. My daughter and nephew loved the Black Panther Dune Buggy 12-Volt, which retails on Amazon for $319.
My niece and sister thought the Captain America Cycle and Sidecar were cute, and It costs an affordable $249 at Walmart.
My Mini and my nephew fought over who would ride first in the latest Power Wheels Jurassic World ride-on vehicles, the Power Wheels Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler and Power Wheels Jurassic World Dino Racer. I guess they didn’t realize they both could have a chance? Kids.
Glove-a-Bubbles – Zing created a cute, fun and affordable (under $3) bubble play for kids of all ages. Bubbles are perfect for outdoor play, and in my household, that is the only place where they are allowed. you can purchase the minis set from Walmart.com.
Antsy Pants – They had the cutest imagination play toys. My sister’s dream is to have a food truck, and there at TTPM was a Food Truck for an affordable $29.99 for the cover and $79.99 for the Large Build & Play Frame Kit.
Fiesta Cruise Sand & Water Table with Umbrella by Step2 – This was a hit with my niece and nephew. It’s the perfect outdoor play station creating a shady spot to keep cool and play while outside. It comes with a boat-shaped table and 10 play accessories, plus an umbrella. It has two separate play areas so that you can fill one spot with sand and one spot with water. The front section holds up to three gallons of water or 25 pounds of sand, while the rear section holds up to four gallons of water. It’s available on Walmart.com for $69.99.
Don’t worry, there were fun outdoor playthings for adults, too! My personal favorites were:
Intex® INFLATABULL® – Featuring realistic printed bull likeness and the official seal of the Professional Bull Riders®, it provides hours of challenging fun and is perfect for riders ages 9+. It is a great accessory for domestic in-ground pools, and you are like me and do not own a pool, just place it on the grass for some bull riding fun. It has an MSRP of $59.99 but is available for $35 on Amazon.com.
PlayMonster Super Spinner – Add swinging to your outdoor fun this summer with the Super Spiner. It can hold up to 650 lbs and is portable, which means take it on your family road trips, to parks, when visiting family and friends to share in on the fun. Our kids enjoyed this very much, us adults, too. Available for $64.99 on Amazon.com.
ArmoGear Laser Battle Game Set – My daughter and I played laser tag at the ArmoGear booth. They have an awesome at-home laser tag game system. We travel pretty often, and this is great to take with us when we travel, to add a fun activity in a new environment that does not have the extra cost of let’s say a theme park. It is great for keeping the entire family active and moving, and it is affordable. The set comes with four vests and guns for $149 on Amazon.com. It’s also available in a two-pack. B
Razor Turbo Jetts – These electric heel wheel skates turn any pair of sneakers into a pair of powerful skates. I joked that I wanted these as a Mother’s Day gift. I would love to have a pair of these for myself. They are cool, and they are not bulky, which makes them great for travel! These skates retail for $129.
Top Toy Picks by a 7-Year Old
When I asked my daughter what were her favorites from the TTPM 2018 Showcase she had a hard time deciding because she had a lot! But, I was able to narrow it down to her top 8.
Jazwares Peppa’s Little Kitchen – She could not stop playing with this kitchen. She loved it so much that she was able to take one home. She’s been playing with it at every chance she gets. It’s available for $79.99 on Amazon.com.
Pikmi Pops – I must admit these are my favorite as well. They smell absolutely amazing and they’re cute. You can purchase some from Walmart.com to experience for yourself.
LuvaBella – This is a realistic looking baby doll. It was popular with both my niece and daughter. It comes in a variety of shades to suit most ethnicities. Available on Walmart.com for $79.99.
Twisty Petz – She likes twisty pets because they are fun wearable bracelets that can be turned into cute little pets.
Fingerlings Minis – In addition to the full-size fingerlings, my daughter loved the minis. She isn’t allowed to bring toys to school because they can be a distraction, but these can be discreetly hooked onto her bookbag or even a pencil, adding a hint of non-distracting fun to her school day.
Nickelodeon Sunny Day Glam Van Caddy by Jakks Pacific – This is perfect for the girly girl. The caddy has a mirror and fun accessories including colorful hair extensions, stickers, a doll and more, all for $49.97 on Walmart.com.
Smooshy Mushy – What kid does not like squishes? My daughter is in love with them, and these have a great smell and just the right amount of squish and rise slowly, which I heard is a tell-tale sign of a great squishy toy. Smooshy Mushy toys range from an affordable $2.99 – $9.99 on Walmart.com.
Poopeez by Basic Fun – Even in all of their grossness, both my daughter and nephew loved the Poopeez crew of T.P. Pooki, Skidmark, The Toot Fairy, Dumpling, and more.
Top Picks for Mom and Baby
TTPM Spring Showcase was also the debut of TTPM’s Baby Shop section and featured some of Beauty and the Bump’s favorite brands like Britax, LÍLLÉbaby, 7AM Enfant, People Toy Company, Sago Mini and more.
Britax – They are one of the premier brands in safe baby gear. I had the opportunity to see their new strollers, car seats, and boosters. It was nice to see that the brand took a step into the wild side by adding fun colors and patterns to their baby gear.
I even gained insight into their latest affordable line, Essentials by Britax, which is available exclusively at Walmart.
LÍLLÉbaby – This is a Scandinavian design-inspired brand that creates functional and stylish baby carriers. The carriers have fun colors and designs that make babywearing fashionable.
They also have cute doll carriers for your kids.
7AM Enfant – This is an award-winning 100% vegan and PETA-approved accessory and outerwear line that features on-trend prints including all-new waxed fabrics, cargo and hunter green/grey colorways, a cotton collection, and more.
I loved this “Future is Female” backpack. Even if you aren’t a mom, I think this is a must-have. The matching Blanket 212 and WarmMMuffs are nice, too. Find out more about the brand here: http://www.7amenfant.com
People Toy Company – Child development begins at a young age, and People Toy Company has amazing new development toys from their Brain Builder Series like the aby Newspaper and the Educational Eddie Rattle, which are great for teething babies.
The TTPM Spring Showcase was a fun-filled day of playing with toys and networking with brands. My mini can’t wait for the next one. She had so much fun testing out and playing with all of the toys, and even found some she will add to her Christmas wish list. Yes, she is already thinking about Christmas, and it is eight months away!
