Shani works for an amazing non-profit, Wellness in the Schools. Every year, they host a gala to raise funds to support the organization which partners with public schools to teach kids healthy habits to learn and live better. This is something I look forward to attending every year and was happy to be able to tag along this year in the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco in Phantom Black to support a great cause and taste foods from over 30 of New York City’s top restaurants, chefs, and beverage providers.
The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco is as unpretentious of a car as you can get, especially when showing up to a gala for a non-profit in support of bringing healthy meals and teaching healthy eating to children.
Since the WITS Gala took place at the IAC building in New York City, it was the perfect vehicle to drive into the city for several reasons:
- The compact size made it easy to fit into tight spots
- The backup camera prevented accidentally backing up into someone or something when parking on busy New York City streets
- Its fuel-efficiency (32 mpg city; 40 mpg highway) made it perfect for our commute from Long Island to the city and back.
Two girls getting ready for a gala means we were bound to be late, right? Nope! The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco is swift, and we were able to safely maneuver through New York City thanks to its safety features like blind spot monitoring, to get to the event where we were able to take part in one of my favorite parts – the food!
The Food at the Annual WITS Gala
Capital Oyster had some of the best oysters I’ve had in forever. Listen, when I tell you oysters were in abundance at the gala, believe me. And I was in heaven!
FIFTY had an amazing shrimp and crunchy quinoa dish.
FELIDIA had a tasty seared tuna and green almond dish.
Untitled had variations of bets that were great. I love beets so this was perfect.
As far as desserts go, my favorites were from Levain Bakery, of course. Who doesn’t love their cookies, right? Oceana had some pretty good desserts, too.
The end of the night was bittersweet, but the smooth ride home in the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco gave us something sweet to look forward to – our beds! There is where we’ll be dreaming about the 2019 WITS Gala and all of the amazing people and food being shared for the benefit of healthier children.
The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco has an MSRP of $21,435. Find out more information on the Hyundai Elantra Eco and other vehicles here: http://www.hyundaiusa.com.
