Spring break starts this week for most New York City area kids. It is time kids always look forward to but parents sometimes dread, at least I do. A week (or more) off from school means we have to figure out what to do with our kids to ensure they’re not lazying around the house proclaiming boredom. Since I’m the helping kind, and I don’t like to see my fellow parents stressing out, I’ve put together a list of Fun Things to do in NYC with Kids over spring break. I know a week off with kids can get expensive so I’ve also included links to some pretty awesome deals available on Groupon.

Fun Things to do in NYC with Kids

American Museum of Natural History (AMNH)

The AMNH has been one of my favorite places to visit since I was a kid. It’s not a place my daughter also likes to visit. She loves the Egyptian exhibits, dinosaurs, and marine life. There’s so much to explore at the AMNH for little explorers.

Groupon has a deal for the Super Saver Package which includes admission to the Museum, the Rose Center for Earth and Space plus the Hayden Planetarium Space Show, a giant screen film 3D and 2D showings, and all special exhibitions.

Hudson Yards

Visit the new Vessel at Hudson Yards (reserve tickets), shop, and for kids that like to touch things, there’s the Lost and Found at Snark Park.

Gulliver’s Gate

My eight-year-old daughter loves visiting Gulliver’s Gate. We recently went, at her request, for her birthday. Gulliver’s Gate is great because it gives little explorers the opportunity to see various famous monuments from across the globe. Kids can search for hidden figures like Spider-Man or Mary Poppins in each exhibit. Last spring, kids could also search for hidden easter eggs.

There is a Groupon deal for two or four tickets.

New York International Auto Show

Attending the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) was one of the things I looked forward to the most during spring break. Kids enjoy pretending to ride the latest cars, there are simulations and other family-friendly activities. The NYIAS is in town at Jacob Javits Center from Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 28th. Get tickets here. You can also enter to win tickets from A Girl’s Guide to Cars  (ends April 23, 2019, at midnight EST).

The Bronx Zoo

Being a native New Yorker, I’ve visited The Bronx Zoo at least one hundred times. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but, I’ve gone a lot. Even though we have gone to The Bronz Zoo many times, it never gets old, and I feel like, at over 260 acres, we still haven’t completely seen the entire zoo. If you’re looking for a way to tire out your kids, The Bronx Zoo with all of its hills will, for sure, tire them out.

Central Park Zoo

My family loves to visit zoos on our downtime even when we are on vacation. It is a great way for kids to learn about different animals and the regions from which they come. Although, a lot smaller than The Bronx Zoo, at only 6 acres, the Central Park Zoo has fun exhibits that kids of all ages will love like seeing the Sea Lions or watching Penguin feedings.

Groupon has a deal for a Total Experience Admission ticket for one adult or one child.

UniverSoul Circus

UniverSoul Circus is always a fun experience. There’s lots of dancing, jokes, and crowd participation. It will be in town at the Aviator Sports & Events Center at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn from April 17 – May 1, 2019. Discounted tickets are available on Groupon

* Kids under 12 months can enter for free as long as they sit on a lap.
