Aside from our love of travel, my husband and I both share the same love for food – good food. It was no surprise that he had found one of the top-rated Argentinian Steakhouses in San Francisco – Lolinda –  to commence our visit to the Bay Area.

lolinda

“Lolinda is a lively destination restaurant for group dining, dates, business dinners and celebrations, as well as a spot for locals and restaurant industry types who congregate at one of the restaurant’s two full bars for expertly made nuevo (new) and clasico (classic steakhouse style) cocktails.”

Lolinda, is a hidden gem located in San Francisco’s Mission District. If you’re familiar with Mission, you would be surprised to find this Argentinian Steakhouse offering traditional dishes with a Californian flare sitting smack dab in the middle of this slightly unpolished section of the city. However, do not let that deter you from visiting.

Lolinda offers tapas (small plates) and family-style dining. Since it was just the two of us, to start, we chose the ‘Ceviche Mixto’, which consists of squid, shrimp, ono, rocoto, and fried corn. This was probably one of the best ceviche’s we’ve had ever in life; we regretted not getting two.

We also had their ‘Pulpo’ (Spanish octopus, potatoes, frisée, salsa verde, aioli), and that, too was just as amazing as the first dish.

My husband and I both love our red meat. It would be an unforgiveable sin to visit an Argentinian Steakhouse without actually having steak. In typical male fashion, he ordered the ‘Gaucho’, a 26-oz. bone-in, prime ribeye steak, while I chose the ‘Tira’, braised chile spiced beef short rib, root vegetables. Those short ribs were amazing; fall off of the bone, melt in your mouth tender, and well-seasoned. My husband’s steak was tasty, too. If we had room in our bellies we could have finished it all, but we did not. Plus, I wanted to save room for dessert.

Dessert was an easy choice. As soon as I spotted the churros on the menu I knew I had to have them. When these cute mini churros with dark chocolate and dulce de leche dipping sauces arrived, I knew I made a good choice. They were delicious! It was a great way to end our meal, and first date night in San Francisco.

We would suggest making a visit to Lolinda if you are visiting San Francisco. The food is amazing, and if you don’t mind intimate seating, and low light, but love attentive servers, place it on your “must dine here” list.
