We’re a young family, and we love stylish things, especially cars. We love our cars to not only be stylish, but also safe, and efficient on gas and makes running errands here on Long Island and into the city easier. You can probably guess my level of excitement when the 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring in ‘Soul Red’ was dropped off to me. At first glance, I thought this is a beautiful, sleek, and sporty car. Although red is typically not a color I’d choose, I felt it suited my driving personality: fierce.
The black and cream parchment leather sports seats of the 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring was eye-catching and comfortable. Being that I am vertically challenged, I love sitting higher up, hence the reason why we got an SUV; however, the Mazda6 I ’s 8-way power driver’s seat with power adjustable lumbar support was just what I needed to satisfy my need to sit up higher.
I also love that the seats are heated! It’s been ridiculously cold this past week with single digit
and temperatures in the teens. The heated seats came in handy in helping keep
my body warm while driving. The dual control temperature settings are the perfect solution when I’m riding around with my husband, and he’s cold and I’m hot; there’s no fighting over how high or low to keep the temperature.
The backseat is designed for three people; however, with our daughter’s car seat, I can see one adult sitting comfortably in the back.
For a sedan of its size, it has excellent trunk space, which surprised us. The trunk size makes it perfect for shopping and the many road trips we take as a family.
Active Driving Display
At 32 MPG’s the 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring, for me, rated excellent in fuel economy. I was able to drive the 26 miles to and from work, run errands, and go on a Valentine’s Day date at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn with my husband without the tank even reaching anywhere near ‘E’. In fact, on day 7, I still had a half tank of gas left. We love road tripping, and having a car with superior MPG’s is essential, and the Mazda6 I is perfect for this.
Sport Mode
The 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring, due to SKYACTIV Technology provides a smooth ride
and flipping it into ‘Sport’ makes the ride much more fun. ‘Sport’ mode brought with it a much welcomed quicker change in acceleration and smoother lane transitioning that can have you channeling your inner Danica Patrick, but the 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring’s speed limit warning quickly brings you back to reality by announcing “You’re over the speed limit.” Bubble burst. Monitoring your speed is made easy with the Pop-up speedometer that posts your speed and distance between you and the car in front of you right at eye level.
We have a preschooler, which means having a vehicle that is safe is at the top of
our list.  The Mazda6i has owned its place as one of IIHS top-rated safety vehicles, and has earned Superior ratings, the highest possible from IIHS, for Front Crash prevention when equipped with available Smart City Brake Support. The Mazda6 I has other safety features, which makes it the perfect car for riding around stylishly with your family, as follows:
  • Active Driving Display
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Close Proximity Warning that shows you the distance between yourself and the car ahead of you, which helps prevent tailgating and rear-end crashes.
  • Back up camera – makes rear-entry parking easier
  • Blind spot detection and display on the side view mirrors
  • Lane departure warning
  • Voice Commands
  • and more…

The 2016 Mazda6 I is a beautifully designed car with great entertainment features like a Bose speaker system, touchscreen media center and navigation system, Bluetooth capabilities that allow you to communicate using your phone hands-free. There’s also Sirius XM radio, which if you know me, I can’t live without.
Although the 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring is a stylish-looking car with great safety features, and entertainment options, I would have loved for it to have remote start capabilities. Remote start for me is important, especially during the cold winter months. I found myself having to start run outside to start the engine, and leave the car running and unlocked because the car doesn’t lock while parked with the engine running.
Valentine’s Day Date Night in the Mazda6 I Grand Touring
I loved driving the 2016 Mazda6 I and my daughter and husband also loved riding in it. Having the ‘Soul Red’ Mazda6 I was the perfect touch to our Valentine’s Day weekend. See more of my date night on Instagram.
The Mazda6 I Grand Touring, after driving it for one week has proved itself to be an excellent
economical option that is fun to drive, stylish, and great for small families like ours. If you’re looking for a mid-size sedan that is stylish, sporty and roomy in the interior and trunk space, then the 2016 Mazda6 I may just be the car for you.
