By now, you know that Beauty and the Bump loves to travel, whether it’s catching a long-haul flight to another country, or just doing a weekend getaway, we love it. One of the things we don’t love is to pack for our many trips. Why? Packing can be stressful; you can forget things. You can also over pack. Ladies, you know what we’re talking about. As impractical as it is, we tend to want to bring everything in our vanities.  Not too long ago (five months) we were that way, but lately, we’ve been more focused on packing smarter and lighter. Today, we are sharing with you Beauty and the Bump’s Must-Have Travel Items for Women On-the-Go.
Travel Essentials Kit
Fill your favorite [small] toiletries travel bag with items you know will make your flight or road trip easier. I normally bring with me Carmex, Perfume, hydrating mask, hand cream, hand sanitizer, Cottonelle wipes, makeup remover wipes.
Travel Perfume
We can’t go anywhere without my favorite scents. Thankfully, we’re subscribed to a luxury perfume subscription program, Scentbird where we receive my favorite scents in these cute little atomizers. The size of the packaging is perfect for travel, as it is small enough to fit in your purse or carry-on, or even your pants or jacket pocket.
Reusable Menstrual Cup
You’ve read the review of the Lunette Menstrual Cup, and know that we love it. The Lunette actually received its first passport stamp during our Morocco trip. Menstrual cups are great for travel because you never have to worry about packing tampons or pads in your purse or carry-on, and being potentially embarrassed during the TSA bag probes or if one accidentally falls out.  Using a menstrual cup also frees up space in your luggage so that you can pack more important things like – makeup.
Portable USB Charger
Beauty and the Bump is always on social media because that’s what bloggers do. We have loads of photos to share on Instagram from our travel adventures and daily lives, and keeping up with and interacting with our readers. Social media apps and taking photos can do a number on your battery, which is why we always bring along with us our Anker USB portable charger. It can charge up to two (2) devices, and the battery charge lasts forever!
Selfie Stick
Selfies sticks may seem a bit corny, but they’ve saved us numerous times on our trips, especially during the times no one is around or looks like they don’t want to be bothered by tourists, and asked to take a picture.
Snacks
Always pack snacks. We’ve been eating healthy a lot more, which is why I bring with me a pack or two of CRUNCHIES freeze-dried fruits.
Compression Tights/Socks
Flying often can sometimes mean numerous hours spent sitting in a cramped airplane seat, which can leave your legs and ankles swollen and puffy. Imagine flying to Turks and Caicos, and getting off the plane with cankles? You cannot wear a two-piece with cankles. Wear compression socks or tights to prevent that. Also, make sure you drink a lot of water, and walk around often.

Something to keep you warm When traveling, whether by car or by plane, it is important
to dress in layers. Planes always get cold, so bring either a scarf like a pashmina,  a blanket if you have space in your carry-on, and socks to keep your feet warm.
Ladies, what are your must-have travel items?

Where can I find those tights? I swell on airplanes and besides it looking nasty, I just hate how it feels. It gives me a restless leg type of feel. I need to replace the tights I used to use.

    • They have them on CEPcompression.com or amazon

  • I have to travel with mints. They keep my ears from popping in the plane, and help with that dry airplane air. Compression socks are a great idea, too.

    • That’s good to know about the mints. We usually bring gum.

  • I like to carry a bottle of sunscreen and a pair of warm socks 🙂

  • I’ll let you know, if we actually travel. lol

    • You are not too old or dead to get out of town! Get moving. 🙂

  • marciaf

Great tips. I just packed and wish I’d organized my sample sizes prior to today. I have so many but no time to go looking.

    • Thank you. It’s funny you mentioned sample sizes. My husband and I were at Sephora the other day, and he stocked up on sample size colognes for our upcoming trip.

  • Mai

I recently got a USB Charger and I don’t know how I survived without it. I can safely go places without worrying whether my iPhone battery will survive!

    • Aren’t US chargers the best! I got the one I have from Amazon, and it was the best $20 I’ve spent.

  • The USB charger is a must!

  • Kasi Perkins

This is an awesome list! Most of the items are definitely on my personal list as well. I have got to try either compression socks and/or tights the next time I travel because even though I drink plenty of water and try to walk around, I still tend to get swollen ankles! :-/

    • Thank you. Yes, try the compression tights. It’s great if you travel for long periods, and in some cases, can help prevent clotting. People in my travel group, Nomadness, swear by them.

  • Allison @neversaydiebeauty

That USB charger looks like a must have. I don’t have any compression stocking, another good idea! For me, I take a pashmina or wrap coz I’m always freezing on the plane & Avene travel mist.

    • On our last few trips, especially this last one, the USB charger came in handy since we were out a lot during the day. Pashmina’s or wraps are great to have.

  • I always travel with gluten free snacks and a charger! Because it’s essential for ALL of my devices LOL.

    • I agree with you about the charger. IDK what I would do if I everything died on me during a trip.

  • Valerie Robinson

This is a great list! I’ve been thinking about trying out the menstrual cup. I am sure to have magazines and at least 1 good book as well.

    • Thank you, Valerie. Try the menstrual cup! I was on the fence about it as well, and now I’m a menstrual cup advocate lol

  • My travel pillow is a must, my phone and I love a good magazine or book.

    • I forgot to include my travel pillow. It’s probably one of my favorite travel purchases this past year.

  • Jonna

Earbuds, lip balm, and a neck rest are some of my must have travel essentials. Of course, a portable charger is a must have too. Gotta get some compression stockings because this year I’ll be on some of my longest flights ever.

  • I just returned from Japan and I had all the things on this list, except I forgot my selfie stick and I’m cool on the menstrual cup. LOL!

    • The menstrual cup is amazing! I’m so serious lol. OOh I’d love to hear about Japan.

  • Snacks, music, water, tissue and hand sanitizer are my much haves.

  • These are great finds! I definitely need some compression tights or socks for long flights.

    All the Best,

  • I always have water, snacks and of course necessities – sanitizer, contacts & solution, perfume, bath & body products, perfume, etc.

  • Great list! I always pack ear plugs and an eye mask so I can sleep comfortably. Also, tooth brush and tooth paste so I can brush my teeth as soon as I land.

    • Thank you. I never pack earplugs, maybe I should?

  • QueenofWinning

My fav snacks, my traveling pillow and of course my iPhone and I also take my MacBook everywhere.

  • Kemkem

Mine include Kleenex, Carmex and lots of moisturizer. I also try and carry a bag of cashews for hunger pangs, and of course my iPad loaded with novels.

    • Carmex for the win! Traveling is when I normally catch up on my reading as well.

  • foodfashionandflow

Some of mine are snacks, lots of good music, blanket and my travel essentials kit.
