Disney PIXAR’s “Incredibles 2” is out today! Are you as excited as I am? I have patiently waited for 14 years for the sequel to my all-time favorite Disney PIXAR collaborations – Incredibles. The wait was finally over this past Monday, when I had the opportunity to screen the new Incredibles 2 movie.
Under the guise of being an incredible mom and aunt, I took my 4-year-old son and 7-year-old niece to see the movie, even though I was really going for me. Seriously, I think I was more excited than they were. I am not embarrassed to say it.
What can I say about “Incredibles 2” without giving away too much? Incredibles 2 takes place right where the original left off and jumped right into the action with memorable characters such as Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone, and Edna. I personally loved seeing the characters fight their way through super villain mayhem as a family.
The writers did an awesome job of balancing comedy, drama, and action. I must admit that I saw a bit of myself in Elastigirl, a full-time working mom trying to balance work and family. I like that in “Incredibles 2” everyone had a moment to shine but Jack-Jack was, hands down, the MVP of this movie. We really got to see his character blossom. He was both my niece and my son’s favorite character from Incredibles 2 as well.
Incredibles 2 was amazing, and even better than the original. That says a lot since the original Incredibles movie was amazing. So how could Disney PIXAR top that, right? I’m excited to say, it was well worth the wait; I just hope I don’t have to wait another 14 years for a follow-up.
An important lesson to be learned from Incredibles 2 is that a family can accomplish the impossible when working together.
If you enjoyed watching the Incredibles family fight off pesky villains nearly two decades ago, then you will enjoy them even more this time around in Incredibles 2. Make sure you check it out this weekend. You’re in for a treat, too because there is a short film, “Bao” that plays right before the movie begins so be sure to get to the theater on time.
Have you seen “Incredibles 2”? What did you think?
If you haven’t seen it, will you?
