Hi!

First, I’d like to thank you for stopping by my blog. My name is Kim, a 30 something, married, first-time mom to a beautiful five year old little girl. I also work full-time in the managed care industry, and work as a freelance makeup artist. I must say, juggling all of those tasks is hard work but, I would never change it for anything in this world!

Being a Mom
Before becoming a Mom, I don’t remember life being quite so meaningful. I would have never thought I’d be able to love someone so much! It’s unbelievable. Now, I believe the truest form of love comes the day you have your first child. Our daughter is amazing! She’s intelligent. She’s healthy, and full of laughter and love. We can’t wait to have another!

So, how’d this blog come about?
Well, I am not new to blogging; I have a beauty blog, Makeup by Kim Porter where I share my passion for all things beauty, especially makeup and skincare, all while helping myself and others feel beautiful inside and out; however, on our journey to start our family, my now husband and I had a few bumps in the road. Since it was hard dealing with everything, from losses, to doctor’s appointments – all while keeping a smile on my face, and staying pretty, I decided to create a separate blog to log my thoughts during my process on becoming a new mom. I noticed there were not many blogs [by women of color] where women spoke of their struggles becoming pregnant, and I hope my blog can help fill that void.

Since then, Beauty and the Bump has grown. Here you will find real stories of my life as a wife and mom, while we travel and explore the world as a couple or together as a family. Being a full-time working mom and wife may not always be pretty, but, I do enjoy it. As you can see form my socials, our family has fun, and lots of it.

My posts (and reviews) will always be 100% honest, without any sugar coating. There’s no point in in misleading anyone. Sit back, read, enjoy and share!

I love comments!
You are welcome to read and comment. I love hearing what my readers and fellow moms really think. So please be honest. I share my experiences so that you know that you are not alone in this madness that we call Motherhood.  Comments help me write more.
