About Beauty and the Bump NYC Blog

About Kim, owner of Beauty and the Bump NYC

I’m Kim, a Black millennial mom in my 30s who is happily married with two beautiful daughters, my rainbow babies. Through my blog, Beauty and the Bump NYC, I share my perspective on the things I find beautiful in life: family, travel, cars, food, and more. As a contributor to A Girl’s Guide to Cars, I provide helpful tips and car reviews from the perspective of a modern working mom.

One thing you’ll quickly notice about me is my love for family and travel. Whether it’s going on a family vacation or getting away for some one-on-one time with my husband, we’ve explored some fun places like Turks & Caicos, Morocco, UAE, and Spain, and we adore California, especially San Diego.

When I’m not blogging, I work full-time in the managed healthcare industry as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, and I also do freelance bridal makeup artistry. Juggling all these responsibilities can be challenging, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I started Beautyandthebumpnyc.com in 2008 to chronicle my journey and experience as a Bridal Makeup Artist in New York City. Over time, the blog has evolved to include my journey to becoming a mom, which was not an easy one due to infertility struggles. I noticed a lack of representation of Black women’s experiences with infertility, so I created a space for myself and others to share our thoughts and feelings on the topic.

What Beauty and the Bump NYC is Now

Today, Beauty and the Bump NYC has become a go-to resource for millennial couples and families looking for tips on pregnancy, parenting, family travel, and entertainment. I share my honest opinions on a variety of topics, including beauty, hotels, products, restaurants, and lifestyle stories that capture the special moments in our everyday lives.

Through it all, I remain committed to providing authentic and helpful content that reflects my life as a working mom and wife. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and sharing in our family’s fun and adventurous experiences.
