Preparing for my daughter’s 7th birthday party at Goldfish Swim School – Farmingdale, which was a mermaid theme, was fun, but it also meant that I had a lot of running around to do in between working, blogging and extracurricular activities. Somehow, some way my family always seem to get everything done. Her mermaid-themed party was a hit! The Soul Red 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD made zipping from work to dance to the craft store and back home a breeze.
Well Rounded City Baby Registry Event
Our week in the Soul Red 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD with parchment leather seats kicked off with a ride into Manhattan for the Well Rounded City Baby Registry Event that took place at WeWork Times Square. Listen, I do not like driving in the city. I repeat. I do not like driving in the city. The traffic, the taxis, and the people who jaywalk just give me anxiety, but with all of the safety features the 2018 Mazda CX-5 has, I felt a lot better, and so did my pregnant co-worker whom I dragged along with me.
The Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD is an IIHS Top Safety Pick that is proven to be safe and reliable. It features proactive safety and i-ACTIVSENSE technologies such as Blind-Spot Monitoring, Smart Brake Support and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with close proximity warning give drivers an added boost of confidence when transporting loved ones, which city-dwelling parents need. Or people like me who get anxiety from city driving. Plus, the size of this mid-size crossover SUV makes it possible to fit into tight parking spots for which New York City is known.
Mermaid Birthday Party Prep
After my daughter’s 5th birthday party I vowed to only have parties for milestone birthdays. Somehow, I got duped into having a party this year. Maybe it was the affordability and convenience of having it at her swim school, Goldfish Swim School – Farmingdale, and knowing that everything from decorations, cupcakes, and activities would be handled by the swim school’s party coordinator.
Being the mom that I am, her party wouldn’t be a real mermaid party without mermaid-like décor. I took the DIY route, which meant lots of visits to Michaels and Party City to pick up things like nets, glitter spray, melting chocolate and more. It was hard work, but everything turned out nice, but next year we are planning a vacation for her birthday.
Any suggestions on where we should take an 8-year-old for her birthday?
Think 3-day weekend getaway.
At least once a month my husband and I try fitting in a date night. Our daughter was at grandma’s and we had the gorgeous Soul Red 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. It was the perfect opportunity to head over to one of our favorite local restaurants, Sweet & Savory Cafe to get a quick date before picking up our daughter.
It Snowed… In the Spring
Who would have thought that during the first week of spring it would snow? I didn’t either, but Mother Nature thought it would be a great idea. Thank goodness the 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring is equipped with AWD making me not dread my commute to work from fear of slipping and sliding due to the slush. Plus, the SUV is equipped with heated seats – both front and rear – the latter my daughter loved. The car also has a heated steering wheel and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Overall, we enjoyed our week with the 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. Due to its size and safety features, it is a great SUV for small families like mine. I love that the rear doors open wider from the previous model year to allow for easier child-seat loading and unloading, which is something I have difficulty with since my daughter’s current booster is huge. Trunk space. Every family with small kids needs ample trunk space, which the CX-5 does not lack.
The 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD is an affordable SUV with an MSRP of $34,685. Find out more on the Mazda website.
