bgood headerI was invited to a tasting for b.good, a  “real food” concept that has been receiving great reviews in the Massachusetts area and recently launched it’s first New York location in  Brooklyn! Located at 141 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, this vastly growing “real food” chain has made it’s mark and I’m pretty sure it’s here to stay.

b.good is not your typical fast food restaurant. Opened in 2004 by best friends Jon and Anthony, who are Anti-McDonald’s, started out by introducing great burgers to customers ( which I had the pleasure of trying). Their mission was and still is to make real, delicious, wholesome food made by real people (not factories).

I had the pleasure of sampling their hand selected Tasting Menu for us that afternoon which included:

West Side Veggie Burger Sliders

Elizel Burger Sliders

Kale Crush Smoothies

Avocado-Lime Bowl

Power Bowl

Watermelon-Feta Salad

We started off by tasting their juice brand, 4 Petal cold-pressed juices and Agua Frescas (try the Passion Fruit OMG! so refreshing and tropical) I tried the beet which was a little sweet but tasty and the Kale which was more savory. The juices were really good and made weekly at their commissary in Boston.

Next, I tried one of THE BEST veggie burgers i’ve ever had, the West Side Veggie Burger. It was juicy which is rare for a veggie burger, topped with fresh salsa, chipotle puree, lime and  filled with all fresh grilled corn, chickpeas, wild rice, cilantro just to name a few of the ingredients packed into this burger.

Next, I devoured the Elizel made with local, all-natural, grass-fed beef. It was packed with seared asparagus, red pepper aioli, sharp cheddar, grilled red onion, toasted breadcrumbs, and parmesan cheese.

Now, you maybe wondering how they come up with the names to their food. The staples were named by employees and b.good also allows customers to name the burgers which all have a story behind it. The winning customer gets that burger free… FOR LIFE!

Clockwise: Power Bowl, B.good employee grilling chicken and searing veggies on the flat top, Kale Crush Smoothie, and Watermelon & Feta Salad.

When you have healthy fast food available, you feel good about eating it. With kale and grain bowls, salads, hand-cut fries that are blanched then baked, seasonal veggies and locally raised, house-ground burgers, b.good offers something for everyone. Also, because their menu is seasonal, (it changes 4-6 times a year!), you will continue to see staples but a few items will change to ensure that your food stays fresh and local. They also offer all-natural shakes, seasonal smoothies and fresh juices.

All of their food is sourced from local farmers, hand picked and trusted by b.good.

In every location, b.good finds local partners so they can empower customers to help others in their community. By transforming communities through food, b.good creates a family amongst it’s customers and within the neighborhoods they are stationed.

Brooklyn’s community partner is PS8: The Robert Fulton School! I found this to be quite ironic. My 3 sisters and I attended PS 8 as children and to see our alma mater be deservingly rewarded was. Whenever b.good rewards customers with free gifts, they have the option to donate those to PS8. Then a couple times a year, b.good will add up these donations and bring real food to people who need it.

I would love for b.good to reach out to communities and schools in Brooklyn who are lacking the education  on eating healthy, food sustainability, responsibilty and what it means to eat locally which are a few of my goals working for Wellness in the Schools cook for kids program.

b.good also has an awesome loyalty app. One of the best I’ve seen and socially conscious. Order your food from the app and skip the long lines. As you use your card, you earn gifts in the form of free salads, burgers, fries, smoothies etc. You can use your gifts for your own consumption, share with family and friends or the most unique feature in the app, donate your gift so that b.good and use it within the community they are based in.

With that being said, 3 lucky winners will win 5 free meals; burger, salad or smoothie from b. good! All you have to do is follow the instructions below. You must live in Brooklyn, be willing to travel to Brooklyn or gift to friends and family in Brooklyn. Good Luck!
