A little over a month ago I introduced you all to Astroglide TTC (Trying To Conceive). It’s a specially formulated sperm-friendly lubricant with adjusted pH levels that make it an excellent choice for couples trying to conceive. We’ve since incorporated Astroglide TTC into our baby-making sessions, and you’re probably wondering if this post means our daughter will no longer suffer from ‘only child syndrome’. To find out, you’re going to have to keep reading.

What is Astroglide TTC?

Before I get into whether or not using Astroglide TTC has helped us to get pregnant with baby #2, I just wanted to reiterate its uses. This lubricant is compatible with sperm, oocytes, and embryos and allows sperm to move freely.

Does Astroglide TTC Work?

Astroglide TTC is specially formulated with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality, and a consistency similar to that of your own cervical mucus, making it less likely to hinder sperm motility than traditional
lubricants. TTC also contains galactose, which is found naturally in semen, as well as fructose, the main source of energy for sperm. Like all Astroglide products, Astroglide TTC also temporarily relieves vaginal dryness during sexual activity
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I can say that as I write this post, I am on CD3 of my menstrual cycle.  In other words, we are not pregnant.  Unfortunately for us, using Astroglide TTC during the most fertile period of my cycle didn’t work. This doesn’t mean that Astroglide TTC is ineffective; our timing could have been off. Also, both my husband and I have been under a lot of stress, especially over the last few weeks.
Just because it didn’t work this time around doesn’t mean we’re going to discontinue using it. In fact, we’ve reached for it outside of my cycle’s fertile days, which goes to show how much we like it. In the interim I’m going to keep tracking my cycle, taking my temps, and taking my prenatal vitamins.  Hopefully, nature will take its course, and we will not have to lose a fortune in IVF costs.
It helps that actually like using this sperm-friendly lubricant even when we’re just doing the do for fun. The consistency feels natural; not too wet, too sticky, or just too, if you know what I mean. Since we don’t have to fill an applicator, it isn’t messy like other lubricants formulated for fertility that we’ve used in the past. It’s also easy to use due to the convenient pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina, supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort.
