Ahh! I haven’t written here in a while.  Please forgive me.  Between working and trying to get our house prepped to move into, I haven’t had the energy to post much of anything on either of my blogs .:sigh:.  In between everything, the husband and I did sneak in some time to have two really good date nights.

Date Night #1
A few months ago, my husband told me he picked up some tickets for us to see Dave Chapelle on July 21st at Radio City Music Hall.  It’s funny because I wanted to purchase the same tickets for him because I know how much he loves Dave Chapelle’s comedy; however, I was unable to get them because they sold out so quickly.  I guess it was meant for us to go since he was able to get his hands on a pair.

Donnell Rawlings AKA Ashy Larry opened up for Dave Chapelle.  He was HILARIOUS!!! I could have just seen him and be satisfied. Dave Chapelle was amazing, of course.  It was good to see him back.  I can honestly say I laughed the ENTIRE show.  They were both that funny.

Knowing the show was going to end late, I decided to get us a room in the city at the new Hotel Hugo in SoHo.  The hotel and the room were really nice; however, the hotel manager needs some training in customer service, and learn who is a part of his staff.  The hotel manager did try to rectify the situation by leaving a note and chocolate for my husband to apologize.  Needless to say, that did not settle well with my husband.  We won’t go back.

The next morning, my husband took us to breakfast at The Smile.  I had baked eggs with avocado, and he had steak and eggs with a blueberry muffin.  The coffee there is solid and is bottomless.  Both of our meals were good, except a little bit on the salty side.  We would go back here.

Date Night #2
When the Beyonce & JayZ On The Run Tour tickets went on sale my husband picked up a pair of floor seat tickets as a surprise because he’d thought I’d wanted to go.  I’ve seen JayZ in concert previously, and was underwhelmed.  I’ve never seen Beyonce perform live, but, I wouldn’t call myself a Beyonce “fan”.  Don’t get me wrong, I like her music, but I’m not running and going crazy for it, so I told him I didn’t want to go.  I was also keeping in mind all of the work we had to get done at our house, too.

Since I didn’t have a true interest in going to the concert, my husband set out to sell the tickets for the On The Run Tour in Philly, and cancelled the hotel he’d reserved for the night, too.

After a long day of working on the house, running to Home Depot etc., and no buyers for the tickets, we left around 5:00 p.m. looking somewhat ready for the occasion, I guess, to head to Philly to see Beyonce and JayZ; an impromptu date night.

Seeing Beyonce perform live is much better than watching her on TV.  She has a ton of energy, and is just an amazing performer overall.  Also their set was well put together.  Both of us enjoyed ourselves, even the “show” before the show.  Girls came to the concert dressed like they were in a Beyonce video… I mean some of them were in lingerie.

We left a little early to avoid the mass exodus leaving the show, which would mean insane traffic. Plus, that allowed us to stop by Tony Luke’s to pick up cheesesteaks.  We can’t go to Philly without getting cheesesteaks, that would be wrong.

Overall, we both enjoyed ourselves each time.  The next time we have a date night will be next month when the husband takes me away for my birthday. 🙂
