My 30th
birthday is exactly 77 days away. I’ve been busy these days trying to knock off
some more items from my 30 Before 30 Goal list. Below is what I’ve accomplished
to date.

17. Get my Driver’s License

Yay! I’m now
a licensed driver! Didn’t I tell you I was going to get my license before 30? I’ve had it on my vision board, spoke it into the universe, and made it happen.  Now, I have to look for a car.  This is one of the areas my dad was good at.  He would have been helpful in helping me to
make a decision. Since I’ll be commuting to work, I’ll need something that’s
commuter-friendly, but is also roomy since we have mini me, and want another.

13. Read at least 12
books
So far, I’ve read the following books:  What Alice Forgot by Lianne Moriarty; The Baby Trail by Sinead Moriarty; And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hossani; We Are Water by Wally Lamb; 12
Years a Slave Narrative
by Solomon Northup; Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner; Krik? Krak! by Edwidge Dandicat; The Help by Kathryn Stockett; The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk
Kid; Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie, which I heard they’re creating a movie for.  I’m currently in the middle of reading Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner.  After I’m done reading that I’m going to read
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which will be a total of 12
books, which completes my goal.
9. Baby #2
We’ve decided to postpone working on Baby #2 until after our vacation, and we’re
firmly settled into our new digs, which I think is smart.  Plus, it just might happen on its own without
all of the meds and going back and forth to the doctor every week. I figured
since everything else happened on time (#17 & #7), then this will too.
8. More Date Nights with the Husband
We’ve been
going out a lot more than when mini me was younger.  We have tickets to see Dave Chapelle at Radio
City Music Hall this month.  Since my
husband picked up the tickets, and the show ends late, I decided to get us a
room through Jetsetter at Hotel Hugo.
7. Become a Homeowner
Two huge,
great goals were accomplished back-to-back; I got my license, and the following
day we closed on a house we were in contract on for what seemed like
forever.  It was well worth it, and we had an awesome team. I am a
firm believer that everything happens for a reason. It just goes to show that with
faith, patience, and perseverance anything can be accomplished.
6. Lose 10 lbs and get back my abs
I haven’t
lost 10 lbs yet, but I am well on my way to getting there. I’ve been eating
healthier and working out (see below). So far, I’ve lost 4.5 lbs.; however, I
still want to lose another 4-8 lbs.
5. Work out for 30-days Straight
I haven’t
yet worked out for complete 30-days in a row, but I have increased my physical
activity. I’ve been doing the Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD, and it works.
1. Work on my career as a
professional makeup artist
I’ve gotten
a few jobs; however, the one that was the most meaningful was my volunteer
experience with the Empress Project 2014 (read a recap here) thanks to my connection with Tekoa
Hash and the Teknique Agency. It was a great experience, and opportunity to
help young girls look and feel beautiful just in time for prom.
I still have
a long way to go with my 30 Before 30 Goal list, but I’m getting there! Thanks to everyone who has been
supportive of my goals.

  • Shani Porter

I’m so proud of you! I never read through all of your goals (yea I suck) but, it’s astonishing to see that you’ve accomplished what you have so far and so many HUGE ones! You’re almost there!

  • Anastasia

Love your goals! I need to set a few, too 🙂

  • Sounds like you are well on your way!

  • if your hubs doesn’t want to see Dave Chapelle with you I’m totally free 😉 just sayin 😉 Congrats on your DL!

  • Congratulations on the house. That’s so exciting! And high five on getting your license. Getting a driver’s license is on my list of things to do this year too. I’m going to have to put some pep in my step to get it done.

    • Thank you! Yes, do it. It’s liberating.

  • Congratulations on the license and your house. That is massive! I recently bought my first place and it also felt like I was waiting forever for the final word. But yay for us new homeowners!

  • If you change your goal to 30 before you LOOK 30, then you’ll have lots more time to work on these things!

  • Congrats on getting your license!

  • Justina

    Great goal list!

  • 30 before 30 is very ambitious! I wish I would have done something like that!

    • It is… I’m happy I got through most of it.

  • Goals are great to have–long and short term

  • Congratulations on getting your license and closing on your house!

  • Lisa Marie Heath

Everyone should have goals! I really need to start making a list of mine!

    • I agree. It’s never too late to start.

  • FabZilla_Kath

Great to hear/read your goals and achievements! Like I always say to my friends, the only one/thing that’s stopping you from achieving your goal is YOURSELF.

  • Wonderful goals. I can’t wait to read more on your update 😉

  • Great goals! You are definitely better at making them than me!

  • BTBAshley

Good luck on accomplishing your goals! I am rooting for you. And BTW it is great to know that there are adults without drivers licenses. That is a goal of mine. =)

    • Thanks! Actually, this is a list of the goals I’ve already accomplished.

      • BTBAshley

I know. I’m just overjoyed I wasn’t the only one who rushed out at 16 to the DMV. =)

  • Congrats on getting your license! Love that feeling of freedom that comes with it!

  • Twenties Chic

  • Pink Sith

It’s great to have goals. But remember that even if you don’t meet all the things on your list in time for your b-day isn’t necessairly a bad thing. After all. How will you be pregnant and work on your abs at the same time! Congrats on getting your license!

    • You are right lol especially about working on my abs and being pregnant. Hilarious

  • Norah Salazar

Amazing!! Having goals and ticking them off the list is huge, so kudos to you and you have a family/ husband that alone is a full time job.
