Spread the love
My 30th
birthday is exactly 77 days away. I’ve been busy these days trying to knock off
some more items from my 30 Before 30 Goal list. Below is what I’ve accomplished
to date.

17. Get my Driver’s License

Yay! I’m now
a licensed driver! Didn’t I tell you I was going to get my license before 30? I’ve had it on my vision board, spoke it into the universe, and made it happen.  Now, I have to look for a car.  This is one of the areas my dad was good at.  He would have been helpful in helping me to
make a decision. Since I’ll be commuting to work, I’ll need something that’s
commuter-friendly, but is also roomy since we have mini me, and want another.

13. Read at least 12
books
So far, I’ve read the following books:  What Alice Forgot by Lianne Moriarty; The Baby Trail by Sinead Moriarty; And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hossani; We Are Water by Wally Lamb; 12
Years a Slave Narrative
by Solomon Northup; Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner; Krik? Krak! by Edwidge Dandicat; The Help by Kathryn Stockett; The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk
Kid; Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie, which I heard they’re creating a movie for.  I’m currently in the middle of reading Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner.  After I’m done reading that I’m going to read
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which will be a total of 12
books, which completes my goal.
9. Baby #2
We’ve decided to postpone working on Baby #2 until after our vacation, and we’re
firmly settled into our new digs, which I think is smart.  Plus, it just might happen on its own without
all of the meds and going back and forth to the doctor every week. I figured
since everything else happened on time (#17 & #7), then this will too.
8. More Date Nights with the Husband
We’ve been
going out a lot more than when mini me was younger.  We have tickets to see Dave Chapelle at Radio
City Music Hall this month.  Since my
husband picked up the tickets, and the show ends late, I decided to get us a
room through Jetsetter at Hotel Hugo.
7. Become a Homeowner
Two huge,
great goals were accomplished back-to-back; I got my license, and the following
day we closed on a house we were in contract on for what seemed like
forever.  It was well worth it, and we had an awesome team. I am a
firm believer that everything happens for a reason. It just goes to show that with
faith, patience, and perseverance anything can be accomplished.
6. Lose 10 lbs and get back my abs
I haven’t
lost 10 lbs yet, but I am well on my way to getting there. I’ve been eating
healthier and working out (see below). So far, I’ve lost 4.5 lbs.; however, I
still want to lose another 4-8 lbs.
5. Work out for 30-days Straight
I haven’t
yet worked out for complete 30-days in a row, but I have increased my physical
activity. I’ve been doing the Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD, and it works.
1. Work on my career as a
professional makeup artist
I’ve gotten
a few jobs; however, the one that was the most meaningful was my volunteer
experience with the Empress Project 2014 (read a recap here) thanks to my connection with Tekoa
Hash and the Teknique Agency. It was a great experience, and opportunity to
help young girls look and feel beautiful just in time for prom.
I still have
a long way to go with my 30 Before 30 Goal list, but I’m getting there! Thanks to everyone who has been
supportive of my goals.
