Spread the love

With
five mature follicles, and my husband’s high sperm count you’d think I’d be
pregnant right now, right? Wrong!  When we met with the RE at the
beginning of my new cycle my first question was “So what happened?”
He said several things like sometimes the sperm just don’t meet the
egg(s), and if it does, it doesn’t implant.  The woman’s egg quality also
has to be good, too because without good eggs all of the sperm in the world
will not fertilize it. Also, any woman who ovulates only has a 9% chance
of getting pregnant. I guess that makes me feel better.
Speaking
of sperm and eggs hooking up, my husband sent me an article discussing research
that found two receptor proteins that must interact to result in conceiving a
child. Read here: Oh baby:Scientists find protein that lets egg and sperm hook up.
The
Clomid I am taking, which he believes the current dose (150 mg/day for 5 days) is
producing amazing results (read last post), only does half of the work, which
is producing more follicles, thus increasing chances of at least one egg, is of
good quality, being fertilized.
This
is my fifth medically stimulated cycle, and third round of Clomid.  We;ll see how many follicles are produced during this round.  I can only pray, keep my fingers crossed, and
hope that this is my last cycle TTC that will result in a healthy pregnancy.
Good things that came out
of this Clomid Cycle
  • My
period was shorter, and less intense.  I didn’t even have to reach for my overnight or heavy flow Always pads.
  • My
skin didn’t break out.  When I was on
Femara, my skin broke out around the time Aunt Flow was expected to come.  My skin looks amazing, but, it can also be due
to the new products I’m using in my daily skincare routine. You can read about
some of them here, here and here.
