For my 25th birthday, I planned an all girls trip to Vegas where we stayed at the Encore by Wynn. It was fun, and I’d definitely go back; however, for my 30th I want to go away, preferably out of the country with just my husband.
I don’t want to party. After partying 3-4 days straight in a row for a few years, I think I’ve partied enough to last the duration of my life .. I don’t want to do dinner or brunch since that’s something I’ve done the last few years, and everyone does it. All I want to do is have some one-on-one time with my husband, in a warm environment, relaxing on a nice beach. Plus, there are a lot of places on my bucket list I’ve created specifically for places I’d like to visit, and accumulate stamps in my passport, that I/we haven’t yet visited.
The last time my husband I went on vacation without mini me was in January of 2012. We’d gone to Puerto Vallarta, MX (one of our favorite places) for 5 days with my sister and her fiance (read about it here). Two days into the vacation my dad died. That combined with the stress of leaving my 9 month old behind didn’t make it much of a relaxing or romantic vacation. My mind was elsewhere.
It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to have fun with each other alone. I guess that’s what happens when you become a parent. With trying to conceive baby #2, house hunting, job hunting, work, blogging, and just life in general – we’re exhausted! Going away together on a solo trip will allow us to enjoy each other’s time, have fun, get reacquainted, relax and do something spontaneous. Plus, we didn’t have a honeymoon, so this trip can kind of make up for that. Now, if only I could get someone to pay for it!
My birthday is in late August, which is hurricane season in most of the Caribbean, which makes my search for a place to spend my birthday on a nice beach a little hard. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao (ABC islands) are outside of the hurricane belt. Of course there are beautiful beaches in places like Croatia, Thailand, Indonesia, New Zealand etc, but, unfortunately, we’re not working with more than two weeks vacation, which I think we’d need to travel to those places. Also, I’d want to bring mini me if we ever ventured to those countries.
I asked my friends and family on Facebook to suggest some places for us to visit. There were places we liked, and some we’ve gone to and wouldn’t go back to. I’ve also created this Pinterest board with places I’d love to visit.
