Date night – need a do-over…
Saturday evening the hubby and I had our 1st date night. I had gotten him Sade concert tickets for Father’s day. What a great wife I am, right? Seriously, I like Sade, but, I knew I couldn’t do 2-3 hours of hearing her music. The plus for me was seeing John Legend. Of course, we missed his performance because we were late. That’s what happens when you have a newborn – it takes much longer to get out of the door. The highlight of my night was ruined. After the 3rd or 4th song, I was bored .. all of her songs began to sound the same. The hubby enjoyed it, and that’s all that mattered. Unfortunately, I fell asleep! .. Date night #FAIL
When we left the baby was awake. My mom said she stayed awake from then (around 7:30 PM) until around 10:00 PM. I guess she was trying to wait up for us .. We didn’t get back home until 1:00 AM. I was TIRED! I cannot stay out late anymore. At least for now.
Finally, her room is coming together…
Yeah, so the baby is 3 mos old and her room isn’t fully complete. Her crib was put up maybe 2-3 weeks ago. She doesn’t even sleep in it since we co-sleep. Her dresser didn’t come until the day after her crib was put up. I got the Delta Children’s Products Eclipse 6-drawer dresser in Black Cherry. It’s very sturdy & all wood. Worth the money.

Shani putting the letters up |
Sunday, I believe it was when my sister came over and put up the letters she bought for the baby’s room (they match the Cocalo Jacana theme). I think she bought them either late last year or very early this year. Either way, we’ve had them for a while .. Procrastination. Anyway, as my best friend said, “Rome wasn’t built over night.” So we can take our time. It’s not like she knows what those things are anyway.
Photo’s for the baby…
We plan on doing a mini photoshoot for the baby. She has a lot of cute clothing & I think it’d be fun, that is, if she cooperates. My sister bought these hats (Polka Dot Sun Hat) from the gap special for the “shoot”.
Hubby has been learning some new tricks… in the kitchen that is!
The husband isn’t much of a chef (IMO). His list of items he can cook well is very short; kebobs, steak, pancakes, salad… Lately, he’s been cooking up some good items. The plus side is they are all quick & easy! Yesterday he made bbq’d salmon with a pineapple berry salsa .:yummoo:.

Visitors – Babies & Children…
I had some visitors on Sunday, and they included some children. Children around babies just freak me out! I have no idea why. Maybe I do .. They don’t understand or listen when you tell them not to touch the baby in the face or the hands. I don’t feel like they’re gentle enough. I don’t even want them holding the baby until she’s much older. I’ve seen them interact with another baby, and I didn’t like what I saw.
